Good luck, fangirls!! Hooray!!

This looks cool, but after reading it through, I realized there are definitely things that are missing. What really got me thinking was the “all ships are equally important” nonsense. That sounds like some normative, status quo preserving shit right there. After that caught my eye, I became concerned that this particular manifestos for geek girl feminists comes short of representing many kinds of people - so many that instead of listing those kinds of people, it’s easier to just say that this is a manifesto for heteronormative, white feminists. I could probably get even more specific than that, but I digress. 

The inequality of ships, and their importance, should not be so hard to understand. For example, another forced straight ship doesn’t even really compare to a any given queer pairing between two white men, and then that compared to cannon queer woc? That is important. I don’t care how many apparently relevant sci-fi and fantasy media references you can drum out. It’s not very radical when in all of the characters mentioned, one is a furry alien, one a robot, the rest are cis, none are poc and only one is queer. 

Like, what gives?  Having to ask these questions doesn’t feel very empowering at all. 

jades is very much right. there are also a lot of ships that just shouldn’t be shipped like abusive relationships or incest. saying that all ships should be respected doesnt make much sense for a whole bunch of reasons.
